Rainy days at Century City “Westfield” mall

Sometimes its really difficult to find things to do with your little bean. However, its not all about the big plan and the big adventure. Sometimes, its just enough to get up early, go to a mall, sit down by an open space and watch your little one find life interesting. It was rainy today in Los Angeles so we decided to head out to one of our favorite malls, Century City. Well formerly known as Century City now I believe its Westfield. Its an outside mall, so you would think that its NOT a good idea in the rain. However, if you park yourself at the BreadBar you get a great covered view of a fairly wide open space where you can let your bean roam free. The beauty of today was really that it rained and no one was out. So our little girl got to run around in the puddles while we ate croissants and bread from the BreadBar. It was a blast.

Warm slippers for babies and toddlers – Nowali

Most of the time I’m glad we have hardwood floors, cause our kid gets messy, and with a hardwood floor I just swoop in with a Lysol wipe and its all good. However, on cold rainy days such as today hat floor that cleans so well also stays so cold. When my little bean walks on it barefoot her toes get cold as ice. My solution….Nowali! The Sweater sock slippers, as I like to call them. They are basically socks with a leather sole that makes the sock non slipper. The other thing that I love about these slippers is that they are machine washable. So little bean spills ketchup all over her slippers- no problem- bam in the washer.

Locally (In Los Angeles) you can get these babies at Kidsland which is on the North Western corner of Wilshire and Western in Los Angeles’ famous Korea Town. Or if you don’t want to leave the house order on line at Amazon.

Nothing in stock at Toys R Us

Our family visited Toys R Us on La Cienaga today armed with my 20% coupon that came in the mail to get our little bean a Buggy and a Swing Along Castle. Since the weather has been so nice, I felt that little bean should go out and play. I am sad to report that none of the items we wanted to get were in stock. Maybe they haven’t received any shipment since Christmas? Or maybe the recession is over.

Sigg bottle as sippy cup

I have a 7 month old and wanted to share my experience that Sigg bottle has been the best sippy cup for my little bean. I bought other traditional bottles parents get their kids, but my little one didn’t really like it…. until….. when my brother bought her a Sigg bottle with kid’s bottle topamazoncom_-sigg-baby-water-bottle-03-liters_-sports-outdoors.

If you haven’t tried it you should. Your little one might love it as much as mine does.

Wish I got these for my baby shower : Cute Artwork from Petit Collage

Our family live in a small house, so I have not been able to decorate a nursery for our baby bean yet. However, when the day comes when she gets a room of her own, I want to be ready. Till now, I was so busy just trying to get used to having her in mylife, I have not thought about other things but now I feel like I can spend some time surfing the web for fun. So, I have been obsessing over nursery decor for weeks now, and I have found artwork that I love on Petit Collage.

I love the collages in wood. They are a little pricey at $140, but I think they can add so much whimsy to a nursery. I think it can be a great baby shower gift too. Why didn’t anyone get me one of these?

Finding the right lotion for your baby sprout

Everyone knows little babies have extremely sensitive skin. When I was preparing for my baby sprout I was convinced that Kiehl’s was going to be the right brand for my little one. After all, my extremely picky sister- in-law used it for my nephew and he had/has gorgeous skin. I bought their cleaners for the body, cleaner for the face, diaper rash cream, and their baby cream. All of their products do not have a strong scent so it was a plus for me. But when I started using their baby cream on my little one, she had some breakouts so I stopped using it. To this day I use their cleaners and the diaper rash cream and I am extremely poor (since they are really pricey) but very happy with the result. If you are looking to buy Kiehl’s products in the Los Angeles Area and save some money, go get it at Blooming’s which is located inside Koreatown Plaza. (Koreatown Plaza is located on the corner of Western and 9th st. in Koreatown) Blooming’s always pays the sales tax for you so you can save almost 10% if you are buying from them.

Since my bean’s skin didn’t agree with the Kiehl’s lotion, I started reading through mommy chat rooms for the right lotion for her. Lots of moms who had babies with sensitive skin raved about Cetaphil Cream. So I switched. I liked the price too. (much cheaper than Kiehl’s) Her skin got better within couple of days so I was pretty happy with it. As I was reading more on chat rooms, I found out that it had some chemicals that might not be so good for such a young baby so I switched again. I didn’t have to switch to a new one because it was working fine for my bean sprout but after hearing that it has chemicals I just wasn’t too comfortable using it on my little precious bean.

There are so many organic lotions out there but based on the convenience factor (if I forget to order it online before it runs out I can run to the closest Whole Foods and pick one up) I have been using California Baby Moisturizing Cream for the past 3 days and so far and my little one’s skin and I are both happy.

So future mommys who are reading, you might have to go through a couple brands of lotion before you settle on one, so don’t stockpile on lotion before your baby sprout is born. I learned my lesson.

Spasilk bodysuits are the best

When I dress my little bean, I always put a bodysuit on her under any other clothing. I think of it as her underwear. That way her belly is never exposed so I don’t have to worry constantly if she is properly covered and protected from elements. I also believe it keeps her diaper in place better.

One of the bodysuits I purchased was SpaSilk 100% Cotton Assorted Short Sleeve Lap Shoulder 7-Pack Bodysuit and these are one of the best.

It’s not too expensive, so you can buy more than one pack so you can just change your little one and toss it in the laundry and also it’s very soft for your baby’s skin.spasilk
